Failures of the shot circulation system bring multiple consequences to the shot blasting machine. First of all, the main function of this system is to collect shot rebounding from workpieces and shot scattered at the bottom of the cleaning chamber, and transport it to the elevator via equipment such as screw conveyors. After the elevator lifts the shot to a certain height, the shot enters the separator to be separated from dust and other impurities. The cleaned shot is stored again and fed back into the machine for recycling. If faults occur in the circulation system, shot cannot be recovered and circulated normally. This not only causes massive shot waste, but also interrupts continuous operation and lowers production efficiency.
Specifically, faults in the shot circulation system may lead to the following problems:
Reduced production efficiency: System failures prevent normal recovery and circulation of shot, disrupt continuous machine operation and decrease production output.
Shot waste: Without effective shot recovery and reuse, substantial shot waste occurs, which increases production costs.
Equipment damage: Malfunctions of the circulation system may also impair the performance of other components including elevators and separators, raising maintenance costs and equipment downtime.
The following measures can be taken to mitigate these impacts:
Regular inspection and maintenance: Routinely check various components of the shot circulation system such as elevators, conveying pipes and scrapers to ensure proper operation.
Timely repair and replacement of worn‑out parts: Promptly repair or replace worn components like scrapers and conveyor belts to avoid failures caused by component deterioration.
Clearing blockages: Regularly clean conveying pipes and the separator to prevent shot agglomeration or impurity‑caused blockages, so as to guarantee smooth abrasive circulation.
